The Land Rights Standard
#LandRightsNow
The Land Rights Standard is a set of best practice principles for recognizing and respecting the land and resource rights of Indigenous Peoples, local communities and Afro-Descendant Peoples in landscape restoration and management, conservation, climate action, and development projects and programs.
In 2019, a group of organizations came together to create a ‘standard’ to guide how Indigenous, Afro-descendant and local community rights should be included in legislation, investment and global development. The Land Rights Standard was developed through an Indigenous-led process involving consultations with groups and communities around the world and launched at the GLF Climate 2022 Hybrid Conference: Frontiers of Change.
