DEFINITION:
Accelerators advance the growth of early stage companies with a marketable idea and business model. By providing training, mentorship and expertise, these programs build upon the start-ups’ foundations to catapult them forward to investors and key influencers.
An Accelerator to enhance Financial Inclusion
The overall goal of the 1st edition of the GLF Accelerator Program – FinTech for IMPACT is to accelerate the growth of start-ups that will revolutionize financial inclusion.
Communities and smallholders in rural and forestry areas can use Innovative financial technologies to secure their livelihoods, their access to funding, to sustain their good practices and make the landscapes more sustainable, productive and profitable.
Combining the latest innovations in financial technologies – blockchain technologies, crowdfunding, fintech in the sectors of money operators or local banks – with our aspiration to make our landscapes healthier, we can break the silos and get the financial system on the right track.
The Program will work in 4 phases, from February 2018 to the Investment Case in New York (spring 2018)
Ideation
A Digital Summit will present the most pressing challenges of financial inclusion that rural and forestry communities are facing on the ground.
Shortly after the presentation, FinTech Start-ups with a bankable project and business model will register and send the GLF Community a video-pitch of their project or product.
Selection
The GLF and Partner Knowledge Committee will open an online co-working space for selected Start-ups to exchange ideas with mentors, business developers and finance experts.
Development
Finalists prepare business pitches and produce promotional content with the GLF Team during 48 hours in New York (venue to be confirmed).
Demo Day
The Start-up’s product is presented on stage at the Investment Case to investors and potential seed funders.
