Drawing on experience and perspectives from members of the Asia Pacific Rainforest Partnership (APRP) Private Sector Roundtable (PSR), the panel discussion will focus on the role of the private sector in identifying durable solutions for the use, management, conservation and restoration of peatlands while considering economic, environmental and social benefits.

A moderated discussion will explore and pose questions along the GLF topics of:

Food, water and energy: Peat and agricultural development – What opportunities/challenges are there with paludiculture?
Climate change mitigation and finance – What are the constraints to ‘restoring’ or rehabilitating peatlands for GHG mitigation? How much can be achieved and what is the business case? What kinds of financing is available to support these activities?
Science of restoration – Where are the knowledge gaps to undertake actions that support sustainable use and conservation/restoration? What are the ‘grey’ areas?
Opportunities for collaboration and partnership for addressing challenges and mobilizing investments in peatland restoration – What are the critical factors that prevent partnerships and investments? How can these factors be reversed?
