About UNCCD

The largest, most influential event on how governments are handling land is the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, which this year convened for the 15th time: UNCCD COP15.

For two weeks in May, leaders ranging from presidents, ministers, and financiers to heads of the community and youth representatives gathered in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire to strategize how to limit land degradation, raise funds for sustainable land management, and further the land rights of marginalized groups, women and young people.

TMG at COP 15

TMG and partners bring the “Rights to Land” agenda to COP 15. TMG co-hosted four side events at the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP 15) that explored practical entry points to empower communities that depend most on land and natural resources to claim their legitimate rights and fulfill their rightful roles as stewards of these precious resources for the benefit of people and planet.

This video presents highlights of TMG participation and reflections from diverse partners and collaborators. Many thanks to the various speakers and contributors to the events. TMG participation at COP 15 was supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
