The Miombo woodland, Africa’s largest savanna, is rapidly losing biodiversity and yet remains critically undervalued in global conservation agendas. This session explores the Miombo Thrive movement and the growing call to restore and protect Africa’s Miombo woodlands through locally led, landscape-scale action. Practitioners from SNV, CA4SH, CIFOR-ICRAF, One Acre Fund, WWF, and Proforest share on-the-ground experiences and financing pathways – making the case for locally led, community-owned approaches that go beyond single-issue projects and short funding cycles to deliver long-term resilience for the millions of people who call the Miombo home.
