This session explores how pastoral systems can help transform resilient food systems in the face of climate change and growing environmental pressures. Drawing on insights from a GIZ background paper, the discussion moves from evidence to policy to practice, examining strategic mobility, Indigenous knowledge, drought risk reduction, and the urgent implementation gap between strong policies on paper and real change on the ground. It also adds a call to build the cross-sector coalitions needed ahead of UNCCD COP17 and the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists.
