Across the world’s drylands, biodiversity underpins vast forest–rangeland mosaics that sustain ecosystems, cultures, livelihoods and resilient food systems. Aligned with the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, this interactive dialogue spotlights how pastoralists, Indigenous Peoples and local communities actively shape these landscapes through knowledge, mobility and adaptive stewardship. As these systems face rising pressures from climate change, land use shifts, degradation and invasive species, the session brings together diverse voices to share practical pathways, bridge science and practice and catalyze collective action for resilient food systems and thriving drylands.
